Photos of Available Dogs

To see photos of each dog, CLICK on the dog's name.
Each dog has 2 or 3 photos which take time to load so please be patient.
All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots, and heartworm clear.
Before contacting us, please read
How to Adopt to understand our screening process.

Each Chessie goes through an evaluation period of several weeks so we can match them to the ideal owner
and living situation. Therefore, we are often fostering more dogs than those listed on this website.

Contact chessy@onlineimage.com about the dogs listed below.

Allie Allie is a very large leggy female, about 14 months old. Dark brown. Going to be a big girl. She is very active with a high prey drive and "must" go into only a seriously experienced working home. (Like our Bobby). She would make an exceptionally great goose dog since she's got enough leg under her to keep them high off the ground. A strong structured lifestyle is a must for her. Allie is happy, good natured and wants a job. If you got one, she'd love to apply for it!
Duke
2008
Duke is a great 9 yr. old Chesapeake with a handsome sedge coat. He spent most of his life tied or outside and is growing back some neck fur. He'd love to find a home where someone will give him enough attention to show him how to enjoy life as an only dog in a laidback lifestyle. He's ready to be your buddy and best friend. Duke is sweet, noble, and full of love to give. And he deserves what he needs.
Hershey 2008 Hershey is a brown 4 yr. old. He's a happy Chessie boy who is active. Okay with other large non-assertive dogs. Hershey loves to swim, retrieve, and play. Housebroken. He'd be best in a home with older mature kids.
Harley (2008) Harley is a lovely medium-sized 4-5 yr. old male, dark sedge. He's a great dog but needs someone to really work on his recall. He's already been allowed to be too independent. Needs consistent training to make him an even better Chessie than he already is.
Molly Molly is a wonderful well-trained and well-behaved 9 yr. old. Shhh....don't mention her age because she still thinks she's a teenager. She's active and has worked in obedience and agility. Loves to go for long walks and just wants to be someone's best and only friend. Molly will make a great dog for a single older woman or a couple who just want a loving and devoted companion.  (Sorry, photos taken on hot day!)
Boston (2008) Boston is a 7- 8 yr. old small female, deadgrass in color. She's what we call a longcoat and will need grooming on a fairly regular basis. Boston needs to be in a home where she can NOT be the boss. Needs owners who are strong pack leaders. She is sweet and very cuddly but loves to try to push to the top of the pack if allowed. Needs a firm consistent owner to keep her in line.
Big Ben This wonderful boy is the tallest Chessie we've had come into our rescue group. Big Ben was dumped and tied to a shelter gate in Eastern Pennsylvania with the note: "My name is Buck and I have hip problems and other health problems. My owners can't afford me. I'm about 2-3 years old. They think I swallowed a rag. My destiny is in your hands." Thankfully he didn't swallow a rag and die that night but he does need your help! Click here to read more of his story.
Hershel Hershel (Hershey) is a brown 4 yr. old boy, good with older kids and dogs. He's a happy-go-lucky Chessie who needs a loving forever home. A real fun dog.
Bobby Bobby is a tall leggy 11 mo. old light deadgrass male. He's all Chessie and needs an experienced home who will give this guy a job either in any of the AKC performance events including hunting (make a great goose dog) or possibly drug detection work. Bobby is a good dog, great with people, possibly testy with other dogs as he needs training and manners. He's a jewel to polish and let shine if you have the knowledge and commitment for this sweet boy.
Missie Adopted! Missie is a shy sweet girl, about 60-65 lbs, brown. Needs a quiet easy-going home with not a lot of traffic. Missie will take time to adjust but will shine when she knows you want her forever.
Sable Sable is an active 10 year old who would like a stable loving home with someone who is content to just have a dog to love. Good with kids. Sable will be happy with an older couple or person who would enjoy a loving dog to warm their feet at night. She loves walks and wishes for her own person to adore forever.
Kellie Kellie is a large 115 lb. brown gal (she's now on a diet) in great shape with a roly-poly lovable attitude about life being only 10 yrs. old and wanting to have someone to love and be their best friend. She looks like a big brown cuddly Teddy Bear. Kelly is a very special girl - you'll be lucky to have her in your life for sure.
Montana
(2007)
'Tana (Montana) is about 18 months old, light brown, and about 73 lbs. She's a great gal! Tana loves to swim and would make an excellent hunting dog with a soft touch and encouragement. She's okay with male dogs who are not pushy. 'Tana is active and into having fun.
Madison Madison is a great little 3 yr. old girl, sedge, about 55-60 lbs. She loves to run and play and have a good time. Loves the water and needs an active, happy life with lots to do. Madison will make a great buddy dog following someone around her new country home.
Haylie Haylie is a 3 yr. old smaller brown girl. She has lots of energy, loves the water, and would be good in a home with older children (age 12+) in a low-key household without a lot of folks coming and going. But she will enjoy being active with her family and their activities.
Charlie (3) Adopted! Charlie is a young active 1 yr. old. He has been adopted and is very happy with his new family. He will be going to a whole year of obedience classes to make sure he stays on the straight and narrow!
Rocky (2007) Adopted! Rocky is a big wild crazy boy who is sweet. Light brown. He has a great temperament although, at 5 yrs. old, hasn't been taught much manners. Kinda hard when you spend your life on a chain. He is Sable's kid and is going to make a great dog for someone willing to put the time and effort into him. Rocky's really smart and still thinks he's a pup who's enjoying life. He trips over his halo and has an impish look in his eyes. Kinda like our Ruffie we had.
Bam Adopted! Bam is a 1 yr. old big boy. Dark brown. He's full of life and really active. Will do well in a working type home. Needs to be kept active, both mentally and physically. Structure and training are a must to keep him on the right track. A committed owner willing to put in the time and effort only need apply. The rewards will be great.
Livvie
(formerly named Leinie)

Adopted! Livvie  (nickname from Olivia) is a special needs Chessie who came to us from an abusive situation where 60 dogs were taken from the owner. She was one of only 12 dogs who could be saved. She had a terrible case of mange, her feet were quite infected, and she had hair loss. (See Before/After photos). We were fortunate that the talented Dr. Stuart Gluckman with Mendon Village Animal Hospital took on her difficult care. Now we have a wonderful sweet girl with a deep plush coat who is ready for a loving and responsible "forever" home. (See More photos.) Adopted by webmaster. Livvie is enjoying life with her Chessie buddies, Billy and Sam, on a 43 acre farm.
